I couldn't help giggling when I saw this picture from Emily's class party. The picture strapped across her face is her teacher, Mr. Dean. What's not to love, indeed!
Below is a picture of her crouched behind some of the donations that her class gave in lieu of the typical gift exchange. What a great experience for the kids to learn about giving to others in need instead of giving yet another gratuitous gift to a classmate or the teacher. Way to go, Mr. Dean!

One more Emily story:
Each of the girls dutifully filled out a Christmas list for Chris and I. Quite high on Emily's list was Tenko the Dog. Chris and I wore ourselves out looking all over town for Tenko the Dog.
Finally, after striking out several times, I said to Chris, "Look, let's just go to Toys R Us, they should be able to look it up for us and find out if it is available." So, we go to Toys R Us and track down an associate.
"Please," we beg, "Tell us where we can find Tenko the Dog!"
"Tenko the Dog? Tenko...the dog? I don't know....I've never heard of Tenko the Dog." Small pause. "We do have a Techno Dog, though."
Techno Dog! Duuuuh! Chris and I just burst out laughing. Why we hadn't figured that one out when we had spent two days looking at lists with words like " pink bead cutrains" and "Mary-Kate and Ashley perfum" I don't know!

whatever! That is so not true!If you come to my blog I'll tell you what happened.
Not my fault, wasn`t paying much attention to where my poor pencil was going. So what is the story for finding Emily`s just born dog?
Well, after the Tenko Dog disaster, we were pretty sure the Just Born was a baby doll. So we had the Toys R Us guy running all over the store looking for a baby doll that said "Just Born." Well, after looking at all the baby dolls and looking on-line, he said, "We do have a Just Born stuffed dog that sucks a bottle." Well! We got that one right, at least!
I love that those sweetie little girls. Tenko dog...tee hee hee...that sounds like doodlebutt.
I'm glad they had such a great christmas.
I know I did.
Little boogers.
They really did have a good Christmas, and I'm glad to hear you did, too! I know we really enjoy the blanket you got us. Yet again, Chris and I cuddled up with it last night and listened to John Prine when we got home from work. And we enjoyed seeing you and the rest of the family. Just daily life is so demanding, it is really hard for us to get out and visit people, so seeing everyone at a family holiday gathering is really important to us. And I'm just really glad that you had a good Christmas, Jamie. You needed it!

omigosh. You've updated twice and I missed it.
Our hard to find item was the 'wake-me-up Rescue Pets'. I didn't think it was one of this years 'big demand' items but it was sold out of several stores and we, unfortunately, needed two.
Oh, you are talking about the "Just Born" Rescue Pets. That was the one where we thought we were looking for a baby doll. We did get one for Emily and it is absolutely adorable. She really loves it. As I recall, though, we had gotten ours at Toys R Us and there were only three on the shelf at the time, and we got one of them! Too bad for Brooke and Paige....
No, these are little alarm clock dogs, that when the time comes that you set to wake up (does this sentence make sense?), the dog stands up and starts barking. It's even got a snooze button in the center of its forehead, I guess, in case, you want to throw something at it to get it to shut up.
Once again,Happy birthday! Oh! and by the way, go and see my new blog
