It's like the Sims

It’s no secret I’ve roundly ignored my blog of late. Here’s a quick recap of why:

Wedding preparation – weeks of too many things to do
Wedding – culmination of a lot of hard work pays off BIG!!!!
Trip to the ER – Guess who is too young for diabetes? Apparently not me.
American Idol – Office pool wins me $255 if David Cook wins, making me into first-time-ever Idol watcher. If Syesha wins I get $33.50.
WIN!!!!!! - $255 come to mama
Oh, yeah…..thank you cards.
Britt moves home – It’s been fun, but big adjustments. She’s a great kid. Adult.
Bike rides – part of the new “treatment”
Bedtime is 9 – hey, a girl needs her beauty sleep
Quality time with Chris – it’s a short evening after I get home from work and make dinner. Chris and I usually try to do something together after dinner rather than him watching sports and me putting my nose in a book or typing on my blog.

So, no wedding pictures yet, as you can see. Bad Laura! Even still, I wonder what place in my life this blog has with so much else to occupy my time. I know I need to put energy back into my hobbies now that life has slowed down somewhat, but with all the things out there to do that are fun, is blogging really what I want to do? I can say this….the urge to write still hits, but it is not like it used to be where my mind would fill up with words forcing their way out.

It’s like the Sims game. For any of you out there who have never played the Sims, you won’t get this. But for those of you that have….as your Sim’s life ramps up with work and friends and trying to get promoted at work, they come home more and more tired. A lot of red where green should be. One of the biggest areas to suffer is the “fun” meter. Ok, so what do you do for your Sim? You buy the item that has the highest fun rating. If your Sim is tired and bored, you buy a high-fun rating computer and a high-comfort rating chair to sit in while your Sim plays games on the computer. It’s kinda like that. I need high-fun rated activities that don’t involve the amount of time it takes to write. See? I’m not saying I’m done blogging, I’m just saying….this is the priority right now. High-fun.

I've never played the Sims, it's just too real! I am not checking blogs like I used to (every day) and I have just been too lazy to work on mine. You and Mike updated, also Hailie. I really want to give people something to read or look at when they go to my site....I know...I'll put on the picture of Chris with the pink bra. Not your Chris!!! Congrats on the winnings, you lucky doll.

Cononsnallah....Corahl!
If you play the Sims you will get that one.
So my Sim's familis got more done, seemed generaly happier and more enjoyed more success. If I could point and click my way to a new standard of living I would but the other way is too hard and takes too long.

I tried playing the SIMS when I had your computer all those years ago, but I got bored. They wouldn't hit each other or kiss or anything..yawn!

yeah, sims is getting rather raunchy. I liked the newer versions up to "House Party" and then lost interest. After all, it's a lot of work to make your sim successful and happy. So much time, in fact, you kinda lose track of your own! Cindy got really pissed at Ray when they first got it....apparently his sims got pretty advanced while Cindy was doing all the work at the real home! :) Hey, we've all been guilty......

Peggy got hooked on it, not that she was any more neglectful because she was occupied with the Sims. Jo' Mamma commenting on her obsession "hey, finally a family she can control!"

I remember that now! It makes me laugh to think of it, mom was probably right! I still feel tempted at times to play the Sims, so I'm glad I don't have it on my new computer. It is one of those sucking-in games. I remember playing obsessively, going "I'll quit once I get my next promotion!" but then I'd get the promotion and think, "Hey, I'd like to add a second story to my house" or upgrade all my kitchen appliances or renovate all my flooring and take out walls etc. I mean, it could go on and on!

Yup, after a while you get board with all the success and you want to torture them a bit so that they appreciated all that I had done for them. I would build a moat of sorts around the house with a ladder IN the house and a spring board outside. Then I would throw a party and watch as the hapless dove in with cheers and glee but would find I had removed the inside ladder, they'd swim for a while but eventually a tombstone would pop up next to the moat which I added to the "grave yard" in back of the house. Tell ya what, there aint no more satisfaction than watching the social worker buy it in the pool after coming to take your kids cause they haven't been to school in a while.

Oh, that is so funny! One time I remember I created a family of adults and there were two people who were really getting on my nerves and I kept trying to get them married off to someone else, but none of the SIms from the neighborhood liked these 2. So, I created a closet, put the girl in the closet and had her call the guy over. Once they were both in the closet, I removed the door. The only thing about that solution was I had to turn off my sound so I couldn't hear their complaints and fighting. DId you know that once a Sim goes really, really red they start attacking other Sims? Yeah, it's not pretty. But once I had the tombstones in the closet, I moved then out to the garden and created a really pretty meditation spot. I kept trying to make the other Sims go out there and mourn, but they'd mourn for a sec then get bored. Like I said, two very unpopular Sims!

I HAVE NEVER PLAYED THE SIMS. YOU GUYS ARE GODLIKE...READ THE STORY BY H. ELLISON ENTITLED: I HAVE NO MOUTH BUT I MUST SCREAM. WHAT A CREATOR WILL DO WHEN HE/SHE/IT GETS BORED. ONE OF MY SCI FI FAVORITES. REMINDS ME OF YOU SICKOS....IN A GOOD WAY.

Oh the closet without a door ploy eh? My version was similar but it involved a small room with a wicker chair and a fireplace, one the more annoying sim(s) went inside I removed the door, they would get hungry and board so they would start a fire...nature took care of the rest.
